About the webmasters

admin 1

admin 1 is a writer, artist, collector, and translator of any and all japanese media that interests him. he got into hypmic in january of 2020 and has been stuck here ever since. he met admin 2 on twitter, where they bonded over their shared love of hitojyu. together they've amassed a sizeable library of hitojyu doujinshi. after years of long distance dating, they've (finally) moved in together somewhere in the glamorous northeast usa, along with their darling feline daughter, [redacted]. he built this website with his own two paws.

admin 2

admin 2 is a writer, artist, collector, and cute girl enthusiast. she's a veteran fujoshi with a penchant for top jyushi/bottom hitoya, although she likes them every way. she's been shipping hitojyu since november 27, 2019, after listening to the first drama track. she's very grateful for having met admin 1 through the tiny western hitojyu community. her favorite thing about hitojyu is the theme of finding true love in totally unexpected circumstances. it mirrors that of her relationship with admin 1... they literally found love in a hopeless place (a desolate fandom). she provided most of the content for this website.

About the shrine

admin 1 nabbed the hitojyu url way back in 2022 when he first began building Neocities sites and, in a flurry of coding, promptly forgot about it. In November 2025, he finally remembered it, and admin 2 suggested they make a shrine to their mutual favorite ship.

The shrine name noctilucent is inspired by "Noctiluca," Hitoya and Jyushi's ocean-themed duet. Noctiluca scintillans is a species of tiny plankton-like marine creatures known for their bioluminescence. Sometimes called "sea sparkle," they can be seen glowing in the ocean only at night. The song's lyrics reflect how Hitoya and Jyushi learn to shine together even in the darkest times.

Noctilucent translates to "night shining" in Latin. It's the perfect complement to Hitoya and Jyushi's shared moon motif: Hitoya through his character quote and Jyushi through his MC name Y

Web design

Our design philosophy is inspired by hitojyu! It is our belief that if Hitoya and Jyushi ever made a website together, Jyushi would take over the aesthetic direction 100% while Hitoya would sit back, buy Jyushi a nice laptop and an intro to web design course, and let him go hog wild coding as many gothic graphic elements as his heart desires.

Our site color is a warm, desaturated purple. It incorporates Bad Ass Temple's group color and strikes a nice balance between the characters' official image colors: silver for Hitoya and hot pink for Jyushi. The rest of the color scheme (black, white and grey) reflects Hitoya's monochromatic look and his theme of contrasts and duality.

The bat design motif is inspired by Nagoya division's acronym (BAT) and Jyushi’s gothic graveyard aesthetic. noctilucent is reflected in stars and sparkles, while Jyushi is well-represented with all the lace, frills, bows, and crosses. We'll keep adding more two-tone checker patterns for Hitoya!

It is my belief that reaching out to the moon is my goal. Even if it does not arrive. Never, never, never, never, give up.
